The Branch’s 82nd Annual Meeting was held
The Branch was honored to have Mr. Ted Aadland, Incoming National AGC President, (shown right) in attendance who gave remarks on Thursday morning regarding the National AGC organization and strategic plans. His theme for 2010 will be “Strength Through Unity” as he leads AGC through some rather difficult times for contractors. He firmly believes that unified AGC members can help shape legislation that will work for all in the construction industry.
Also, Mr. Marco Giamberadino, Director of the Federal and Heavy Division, National AGC, gave remarks regarding new and changing policy developments related to federal contracting as well as plans for the upcoming Federal Contractors Conference. He also expressed appreciation for the several members of the Branch who play important roles at the National AGC level in leading the Federal and Heavy Division and serving as Chairs on National Committees.
On Friday morning BG Michael J. Walsh, Commander of the Mississippi Valley Division, Corps of Engineers, shared remarks on future funding and construction in the Valley and presented the 2010 Dan W. Renfro Partnering Award as shown on the LEADERS IN PARTNERING page. The MVD District Commanders and the Commander, Hurricane Protection Office, gave remarks on their 2010 construction programs including ARRA funded projects.
2010 NATIONAL AGC CONVENTION
The National AGC Convention was held March 17 – 19 at the Orlando World Center Resort,
The Branch was honored by Mrs. Anne Claire Fordice, Mr. Jamey Sanders, and Mrs. Susan Gambrell (shown left) who sang the National Anthem and God Bless America during the Opening Session of the Convention. At the Convention Mr. Dan Fordice, Fordice Construction Co., and Mr. Tony Zelenka, Bertucci Contracting Corporation, were respectively elected Chairman and Vice Chairman, Federal & Heavy Division. Mr. Todd Roberts, ERS, Inc., and Mr. Jamey Sanders, Choctaw Transportation Co., continue to respectively serve as Chairman, NRCS Committee, and Chairman, Marine Contractors Committee. Finally, the Branch congratulates Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC on receiving the AON Build America Award for the USACE Harvey Canal Sector Gate Complex,
2009 BRANCH MID-YEAR MEETING
The 2009 Branch Mid-Year Meeting was held July 30th – August 1st at the Westin Memphis Hotel – Beale Street. Participants enjoyed an outing Friday evening at AutoZone Park to see the Memphis Redbirds play a doubleheader and enjoy food and fellowship in the Party Suite. The Redbirds won both games. The Friday morning seminar included presentations by Profile Products, LLC and Innovative Equipment Solutions. The golf outing was required to be moved indoors due to inclement weather.
